Scheduling a reminder
Reminders help you keep your backup up to date. To schedule a reminder:
- Open CCC Mobile
- Tap Reminders at the bottom of the window
- Toggle the Backup reminder switch to the On position. If prompted, grant CCC permission to send notifications.
- Set a notification time and specify which days the reminder should be issued.
The reminder will appear as a notification. Click on the notification to open CCC Photos Backup.
Why do I have to keep CCC Mobile open to complete the backup? Why can't I schedule automated backups?
To preserve battery life, iOS and iPadOS are merciless about long-running background activity. When you switch to a different application, the previously-front-most application is placed into Inactive mode. At that point, it has 30 seconds (at most) to complete any background task activity. Activity that persists after that will be terminated. CCC Mobile will handle these termination requests gracefully to avoid leaving any partially-copied files in place on the destination. To allow your backup to complete, however, you should leave CCC Mobile frontmost. We also recommend running backups when your mobile device is attached to AC power if you have a particularly large backup to complete.
Due to the same limitations noted above, it's not possible to automate backups on these operating systems in the same manner that you would on macOS or Windows. Use reminders instead to make manual updates to your backups.
